General
Choose a scenario from the library or create your own, then review the situation, your role, and your objective. You will practice the conversation with an AI counterpart that responds to what you say. When you finish, you will receive feedback and recommendations for what to try next.
You can also ask the AI Mentor for guidance before, during, and after the roleplay.
Empathic Edge is available through web browsers on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. No special software or download is required.
After each roleplay, Empathic Edge reviews the conversation and provides specific, actionable feedback tied to what you said. You will see what worked, what you could try next, and how you demonstrated the skills emphasized in the scenario.
Your results may also include skill scores and recommendations for a relevant roleplay, lesson, or another attempt.
Recommendations are shaped by what you want to improve and how you use the platform. As you complete roleplays and lessons, Empathic Edge adapts its suggestions to help you decide what to practice next.

For Professionals
No. Empathic Edge is grounded in negotiation, dispute resolution, and legal education, but the skills it develops apply across industries.
Attorneys, mediators, managers, consultants, sales professionals, client-facing teams, business owners, and other professionals can use it to prepare for negotiations, feedback conversations, workplace conflict, leadership challenges, and difficult client interactions.
Empathic Edge focuses on six core skills:
- Strategy: Preparing, setting goals, prioritizing, and adapting your approach.
- Listening: Asking useful questions, clarifying, summarizing, and listening for underlying interests.
- Perspective: Understanding concerns, recognizing constraints, and building trust.
- Composure: Managing your reactions, de-escalating tension, and responding thoughtfully under pressure.
- Influence: Making clear asks, framing proposals, supporting your position, and responding to pushback.
- Problem-Solving: Generating options, navigating tradeoffs, and building workable agreements.
Different roleplays focus on different combinations of skills based on the situation and objective.
Empathic Edge is built around applied practice. Instead of stopping at information or theory, it gives learners opportunities to rehearse realistic conversations, receive specific feedback, reflect on their choices, and try different approaches.
Short lessons introduce useful strategies and concepts, while roleplays give learners a place to apply them in context.
For Teams & Institutions
Empathic Edge complements courses, clinics, workshops, coaching, and professional-development programs by giving learners a structured place to practice.
Roleplays can be used as a baseline exercise, an opportunity to apply a concept, skill, strategy, or approach introduced during instruction, or additional practice between sessions. After completing a roleplay, learners can download their feedback and transcript to review independently or share with an instructor.
